Some would say that the only true way to record classical music is jost one pair of microphones and that would make sense using two high quality microphones you could space them in the best seat in the house and record for a great stereo recording but that could possibly make it too simple. This can create weird effects depending on the environment of the room and can create challenges depending on the space. It is a highly focused experience and should be detailed whether live or recorded. Production techniques that work the best would make it simple creating a perfect stereo image of the recording space with great quality microphones to catch the best sounds. But a problem is with a preamp and well, high quality you are getting better hearing then the human ear and a recording that could be too big or unrealistic so you want to make sure you can pick up everything without sounding out of proportion.
